Chase Junghans follows LOLMDS to East Bay for Wieland Winternationals
Chase Junghans was one of 58 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) entries unloaded at East Bay Raceway Park (Gibsonton, Fla.) on Monday afternoon for six straight nights of racing.
Despite starting the night off with a solid qualifying effort, Junghans was collected in a multi-car tangle in his heat race that sidelined him for his B-Main.
After sitting out Tuesday’s program, Chase recorded a sixth-place finish in his heat on Wednesday, relegating him into one of three consolation races. He retired with two circuits remaining in the 10-lapper.
For the fourth round of the Wieland Winternationals on Thursday, Junghans followed up a fourth-place run in his heat with a consolation victory. With $10,000 on the line in the feature, Chase inched forward two spots in the 40-lap affair to finish 18th.
On Friday, Chase missed a transfer spot by two cars in his heat, dropping him into a B-Main. Needing to place second or better to make the $12,000-to-win A-Main, Junghans fell one position short with a third-place outing.
A mixture of wet weather and an unfavorable forecast washed out Saturday’s Wieland Winternationals finale.
