Fourth of July weekend brings Junghans to Deer Creek
Chase Junghans returned to action over the Fourth of July weekend, making the trek north to Wisconsin’s Deer Creek Speedway for the World of Outlaws Real American Beer Late Model Series doubleheader.
Competing at the 3/8-mile oval during the 46th annual NAPA Auto Parts Gopher 50, Junghans qualified 15th-fastest in his time trial group on Thursday before finishing seventh in his heat race. A sixth-place finish in his consolation event ultimately ended his night early.
Returning for another round of prelims on Friday, Junghans continued to face adversity. After placing seventh in his heat race, he gained one position in the B-Main to finish fifth—falling just two spots short of a transfer into the feature.
Saturday’s Gopher 50 finale was canceled due to inclement weather.
