Junghans attends Prairie Dirt Classic weekend at FALS
Chase Junghans wrapped up the final weekend of July with a trip to Fairbury Speedway for the 35th annual Prairie Dirt Classic.
Wednesday’s FloRacing Night in America One for the Road event served as a valuable tune-up for the Kansas native. Although he missed a transfer spot, he advanced four positions to finish fifth in his B-Main.
The Prairie Dirt Classic officially launched on Friday as the World of Outlaws Real American Beer Late Model Series drew 78 entries for a pair of preliminary features. With the top four from each locking into Saturday’s $50,000-to-win main event, Junghans recorded an 11th-place finish in his 25-lap prelim, sending him to a Saturday B-Main.
After a third-place run in the B-Main left him just short of a transfer, Junghans lined up in the Prairie Dirt Shootout non-qualifier feature—his final opportunity to make the field. With the winner given the choice between a $3,500 payday or tagging the tail of the main event, Junghans came home third, ending his weekend just shy of the big show.
