Top-10 finish in DIRTcar Nationals prelim at Volusia
Chase Junghans made his 2026 Speedweeks debut last week with a trip to Florida’s Volusia Speedway Park for the 55th annual Federated Auto Parts DIRTcar Nationals.
With three DIRTcar-sanctioned events opening the six-race stretch, Junghans was one of 24 drivers to qualify for Monday’s opener, trimming the 56-car field. Racing his way into the feature through the B-Main, he advanced three positions to finish 18th.
He narrowly missed a transfer spot into Tuesday’s preliminary, but rebounded on Wednesday by qualifying 11th-fastest in his group, placing him on the sixth row for the feature. Chasing a $5,000 payday, Junghans gained four positions to record a seventh-place finish.
As competition shifted to World of Outlaws sanctioning from Thursday through Saturday, Junghans came up short in the B-Mains on Thursday and Friday. However, an impressive ninth-to-second charge in Saturday’s B-Main earned him a spot in the $20,000-to-win DIRTcar Nationals finale.
He capped the weekend with a 23rd-place finish in the 50-lap main event.
